Rockbridge Trails

This is how it all started…

Well, there was a bicycle shop before the Covid pandemic threw a wrench into the works, but before it did we came up with slogans and stickers and got the esteemed Mr. Rosher to work on trails out at Glen Maury Park in Buena Vista. We rounded up some helpers and by the time the last autumn olive was cleared out there were over 6 miles of new trails running through the over 300 acres of wood and grassland of Glen Maury Park.

We choose Glen Maury for a variety of reasons, one being they wanted trails. But there were more – we wanted to expand the opportunity to a wider part of the Rockbridge community – there were already trails out by Lexington. Well, just about everywhere, but most of them are more than a walk away from where most of us live. Something for everyone, was one of our aspirations.

Time passed and the club waxed and waned quite a bit. We’ve just reestablished ourselves and our aim is much broader, hoping to work on trails across the county.
